H.O.P.E. Inc.

Founded in 2008, the H.O.P.E. Foundation’s mission is to provide inspiration to youth, families, and communities to help them to lead a more healthy life style. H.O.P.E. will provide the tools necessary to increase, awareness, exposure, physical activity, and a unified spirit throughout communities.

H.O.P.E. has three main objectives for the foundation:

  • To create an impactful presence in every community that Ms. Johnson adopts.
  • To Strongly express the importance of education and support for at-risk schools.
  • To gain awareness and support for all the programs that H.O.P.E. provides for the communities that it serves.

H.O.P.E. is a 501c3 Non Profit organization

Jewel Johnson Scholarship

Jewel Johnson was my grandmother and an educator, in the State of Louisiana. She was a teacher for over thirty-three (33) years and I was reared by my grandmother. My grandmother lost the battle with cancer in 2008. My grandmother stressed the importance of an education to me at an early age. I was always taught that I could only play basketball after I completed homework assignments and she never let me forget education 1st and basketball 2nd. I worked hard both on the court and in school because of what was instilled in me by my grandmother. The Jewel Johnson scholarship affords me the opportunity to pass along the value of an education.

The Jewel Johnson Scholarship fund was created to give all kids an opportunity to further their education. Most people state that you are what you see. The H.O.P.E. foundation was founded to change what you see by shaping your experience. The Jewel Johnson Scholarship was founded for kids who dreamed big and worked hard, despite obstacles to attain a higher learning degree. I can remember people of all ages coming to me after games stating I give them H.O.P.E.. H.O.P.E. comes in many shapes, sizes, and forms. H.O.P.E. changes what you see into what you want it to be. However, what people don’t realize is that they give me the strength not to just continue but also make an impact. The Jewel Johnson Scholarship is H.O.P.E. for the innovators, creators, and our future leaders of tomorrow….
